I remember when I was about 10 years old, I loved playing this game with a friend of mine who owned it.
The german edition of it was called "Atlantis", but as far as I know there are no differences to the english version.
In 1982, it was absolutely fascinating to have a childrenīs game using electronics.... Now time has passed by an technics have advanced and I was finally able to locate the game for a collectors price at a games convention.
Today, the game appears fairly simple and antique, but it has preserved its flair as being one of the first "high-tech" electronic toys on the german market. Basically, the game is about the quest of 1 to 4 Princes trying to defeat a large tower occupied with Orcs. Each player starts the game in his home Kingdom with some Knights, Gold and Provisions. The movement on the map is regulated by the Tower which might give an random event like attacking Orcs, the Plague, a Dragon, a Pegasus etc.... According to the number of Knights a player has he loses provisions. If provisions or Knights run low, a player might visit a Bazaar at which he might buy the things needed or even something else like a Scout, a Transport-Beast or a Healer. During the game, a player travels through the kingdoms of the other players and in each kingdom he has to search for one of the three Tower-Keys. If he has found all of them, he returns to his own kingdom and attacks the Dark Tower from there.... I must add that there is no direct interaction between the players. Each player finds his own 3 keys, and there is no possibility to meet an other player. To sum it up, the game-principle is fairly simple and measured with our modern day standarts the Tower-Electronics are ridiculous. But nonetheless, itīs nice to see this "old fellow" again and now and then it still makes fun to hunt down the keys. |
