Back in the 1980`s there has been a co-operation between the boardgame-giant MILTON-BRADLEY (MB) and the leading publisher of tabletop wargames GAMES WORKSHOP. This cooperation has resulted in three games for which GAMES WORKSHOP designed the miniatures and which were produced under the MB label. These games were, Heroquest, Space Crusade and Battle Masters, and although these games did not offer a strategical depth comparable to traditional GAMES WORKSHOP games, their easy playability made them especially attractive for younger players and families so that they have found many fans around the globe. However, by far most popular of these three games is Heroquest, a classic dungeon-exploration game which has taken some elements of Roleplay-games and has introduced them into the concept of a boardgame. Thus, the evil side in this game is taken by a gamemaster who hosts the game and sets up the gameboard step by step as up to four Heroes (Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf, Wizard) explore the Dungeon, and since the game can be set up differently each time many different kinds of missions are possible and players even can invent new missions on their own. The popularity of Heroquest also is reflected by the number of expansions which were released for the game, since a total of seven official expansions was produced for the game after the initial release of the basic game. Here now you will get an overview of these expansions, but before we go deeper into the topic let`s introduce a...
An especially great feature about Heroquest is that a player`s spirit for inventions is candled since it is possible to create many new characters and scenarios for the game. Thus, at this place I am now releasing some new characters for the game which I have created myself to allow players a broader choice of possible Heroes to explore the dungeon with. Also included are my suggestions for suitable miniatures to use with the characters to get maximum enjoyment while playing the characters! | ||
