G@mebox author Lutz Wildt writes about the game:

It's pretty impressive how a game with just two admittedly very cool dice manages to be so diverse and varied! I'm talking about Rolling Realms Redux from STONEMAIER GAMES. As in the first part of Rolling Realms, this game also contains 12 scoring cards for up to 6 players, on each of which you enter one of the two dice values in order to complete tasks and gain victory points in the form of stars. However, Jamey Stegmaier and Karel Titeca have not simply invented any new scoring cards. Rather, they have integrated the essence of the mechanics of some successful modern board games such as Planet Unknown or Meadow, but also some classics such as Poker or Rock-Paper-Scissors into the respective tasks.

It's amazing how well you can recognise the original games, and after the first few rounds of dice you get the feeling that you're not just playing Rolling Realms Redux, but also a little bit of Guild of Merchant Explorers or Wonderland's War, which have also been incorporated into Rolling Realms Redux. As the game consists of three rounds, each with three different scoring cards, the gameplay changes from round to round. The dice are rolled exactly nine times per round. You have to constantly think about how to make the best use of your dice.

Scoring Victory Points is not as easy as you might think, as the two dice must not be on the same scoring card during a turn. While this is easy at the beginning of a turn, it becomes increasingly difficult as the game progresses. There are only a few numbers that really make sense to use. Fortunately, you can also get hold of the resources pumpkin, hearts or gold. These are very useful as they allow you to change the value of the dice, copy a dice or even use the second dice on the same card. If you use them cleverly, you can create little chains that can give players a real boost.

I also really liked RRR-Ball. The solo version of the game is modelled on a football tournament, where the player tries to win against bots and progress in a league mode. The higher you go, the harder it gets! Depending on the bot star you are assigned to, the game will give you a Victory Point value, which you must beat in order to win. Players have a different number of dice throws depending on the league they are in. The results are recorded in a table and players can be promoted or relegated depending on their position. Quite exciting!

All in all, Rolling Realms Redux is an absolute must! Thanks to the different scoring cards, which are constantly rearranged throughout the game, and the excellent solo mode, there is never a dull moment. Every single roll of the dice is exciting, as you hope for certain numbers to come up and are happy when others don't, denying your opponent a good chance. There are also a number of promo packs that add many more popular games to the Rolling Realms, so you can always expand your own game and add a few new game worlds! I'm going to go polish the dice now and continue my RRR Ball tournament! Maybe I am going to win!
